When it comes to racist stuff it seems like Ron DeSantis is like a moth attracted to a bug light. First, DeSantis asked the voters of Florida to not "monkey this up" and vote for his African American opponent.
Then, it became known that DeSantis moderated a Facebook group, which included Michael Ward, husband to GOP Senate candidate Kelli Ward, that said some crazy and racist shit. The groups content noted by Splinter:
Over the last few days, posts gloating over John McCain’s death have filled the group. One Photoshopped image of a headstone bearing McCain’s name called him a “traitor to America” and “friend of the Viet Cong.” Another post by Michael Ward called McCain a “strong supporter of the Muslim Brotherhood.”
One frequent poster, who according to American Ledger runs a “fake news site,” posted an article in January warning of a “civil war” in Germany between neo-Nazis and Muslim immigrants. “I’m actually having to root for neo-Nazis…sad state of affairs!” the post said.
DeSantis has attended and given speeches at conferences sponsored by a man who founded Freedom Center. Freedom Center's fundraising appeal: "We combat the efforts of the radical left and its Islamist allies to destroy American values and disarm this country as it attempts to defend itself in a time of terror."
Now, A DeSantis donor is in the news for a racist tweet.
Boca Raton-area businessman Steve M. Alembik tweeted "FUCK THE MUSLIM NIGGER" referring to President Obama. Alembik has donated more than $20,000 to the DeSantis campaign.
Politico talked to Alembik, here is some of it:
“So somebody like Chris Rock can get up onstage and use the word and there’s no problem? But some white guy says it and he’s a racist? Really?” the 67-year-old Alembik said, adding that what’s considered racially charged language now wasn’t racist when he was a kid. “I grew up in New York in the ’50s. We were the kikes. They were the n------. They were the goyim. And those were the spics.”
And:
Initially, Alembik said he didn’t believe he wrote that but then, after reviewing the tweet, said “when I write anything inflammatory, it’s because I’m seriously pissed off. I’m an emotional human being. Do I have a filter on what I say? In public, yes. Would I use that word in public? No. This is Twitter.”
Twitter is public buddy. It's why we now know you're a racist. The irony of this mans tweet, is that Obama was right to say "over the past decades, the politics of division and resentment and paranoia has unfortunately found a home in the Republican Party."
And a DeSantis donor decided to prove Obama correct...
